As long as it's in a supported format (.epub, .pdf) and there are no licensing restrictions from the places where you downloaded the ebooks, you will be able to transfer them to the Nook.

• Google's large library of digital books in epub format are candidates, no DRM
• A number of digital book sellers with the exception of Amazon are expected to support the .ePub format. I believe Amazon has a proprietary format.
